Dark AI: A Webinar Delving into the World of AI-Powered Criminals

On April 30, 2025, the Secure Communities Forum (SCF), in collaboration with INTERSEC, hosted the Dark AI webinar—an eye-opening exploration of how artificial intelligence is being weaponized by criminals across the globe. The event drew over 100 participants from more than a dozen countries, including law enforcement, cybersecurity experts, and public safety professionals.

The session featured leading voices in the fight against tech-enabled crime, including:

  • Lt. Sultan Al Dahbashi, Head of Permanent Alliances Development Branch

  • Dr. Omer Ali Saifudeen, SCF Advisory Board Member

  • Danny Chan, Director, Regional Security Officer, Asia Pacific, Mastercard

  • Jorge Fainstein, Director, INTERPOL Global Academy

  • Alya Mabrouk Abdalla Rabee AlSaadi, Cyber Programme Coordinator, INTERPOL

  • Arushi Goel, Policy Lead, Middle East and Africa, Chainalysis

  • Nathan Waugh, Intersec Portfolio Director

  • Eitan Charnoff, Secretariat, Secure Communities Forum (Moderator)

Together, the panel explored a wide range of emerging threats—from deepfake-enabled fraud and Ransomware-as-a-Service to crypto-based money laundering, smart home exploits, and social engineering attacks. Real-world case studies and global trends were presented, with an emphasis on the critical role of public-private collaboration in identifying and neutralizing these evolving threats.

The Dark AI webinar was part of SCF’s ongoing commitment to convening cross-sector expertise and fostering practical strategies to protect communities worldwide. We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers, participants, and partners who made this session impactful.
