International Cryptocurrency Masterclass for Law Enforcement 2024



Overview:

Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology continue to evolve, presenting both opportunities and challenges for law enforcement agencies worldwide. To address the complexities of these emerging technologies, the Secure Communities Forum (SCF) and Rabdan Academy partnered with leading organizations to host an intensive three-day masterclass on September 2-4 2024, in Abu Dhabi, focusing on equipping law enforcement professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the rapidly changing digital landscape. This groundbreaking event brought together a diverse group of participants, with 324 attendees joining both in person and virtually from 36 countries. The attendees included law enforcement officers, cybersecurity experts, and industry specialists, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and expertise. The masterclass featured expert speakers and practical sessions, offering insights into cryptocurrency investigations, blockchain analysis, and regulatory frameworks.

Outcomes

The masterclass concluded with several key outcomes:


  1. International Working Group Formation: Recognizing the need for continued collaboration, an international working group on cryptocurrency and law enforcement was established. This group will drive larger projects, promote information sharing, and develop best practices for investigating and prosecuting cryptocurrency-related crimes.


  1. Enhanced Global Cooperation: With participation from 36 countries, the masterclass strengthened global cooperation among law enforcement agencies. It provided a unique platform for building networks and partnerships that will be essential in tackling transnational cryptocurrency crimes.
