About the Event
Synopsis
Gaming has become a powerful platform for social interaction and self-expression, shaping the current and future generations' social networks. To raise awareness and inspire innovative solutions for a safer and more inclusive gaming environment, while nurturing safety, resilience and a bright future in esports, SUSS has partnered with the Secure Communities Forum (SCF), the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and the Singapore Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) to present Pixels and Possibilities, a ground-breaking symposium that brings together experts, scholars, developers, policymakers, and gaming communities to explore various aspects of gaming and create a safe space for embracing esports for personal development and community building.
The inaugural symposium will focus on fostering digital literacy and critical thinking among gamers to challenge extremist ideologies within gaming spaces and aims to nurture collaboration between game developers, law enforcement, and community organisations to unite against all forms of harmful online content. Key topics at this symposium will address how hate speech and extremist ideologies infiltrate gaming communities through online platforms. Ethical considerations such as content moderation and player safety, will also be explored to mitigate negative impacts.
Join the symposium for a glimpse of cutting-edge research, technological advancements and educational initiatives at the intersection of gaming and extremism, and gain insights from gaming communities.
