WEBINAR: Community Policing: Youth Engagement and Safety

Overview: On March 27th, 2024, the Secure Communities Foundation (SCF), in partnership with the Guarda Nacional Republicana and the Singapore University of Social Sciences, hosted a landmark webinar addressing the critical issues surrounding the safety and well-being of children and youth in the digital age. With approximately 42% of the global population under 24, the discussion aimed to tackle the unique challenges they face, particularly concerning online safety and interactions with law enforcement.


Distinguished speakers from various backgrounds including law enforcement, academia, and NGOs provided invaluable insights and shared innovative solutions from a community policing perspective. The event featured engaging discussions, case studies, and best practices aimed at ensuring the welfare of young people and fostering a safer society. The webinar attracted over 100 attendees from 21 countries, demonstrating the global interest and commitment to addressing the issues discussed. The diverse perspectives brought to the table enriched the conversation and paved the way for collaborative efforts in shaping the future of public safety for the younger generation. Overall, the webinar proved to be an enlightening and productive platform for stakeholders to come together, share knowledge, and explore practical solutions for ensuring the safety and well-being of children and youth in an increasingly complex digital landscape. The SCF and its partners are committed to continuing this important dialogue and translating insights into action for the benefit of society as a whole.
